PHOTO OF THE DAY: Manu Trigueros scores late on against RC Celta

LaLiga is back! The top flight of Spanish football’s hashtag on social media has been #BackToWin and Villarreal were back to win on Saturday, with a Manu Trigueros goal late on enough to give the Yellows the win away to RC Celta. You can read the match report here and watch the highlights here.

Manager Javi Calleja had to watch from the stands as he was serving the second of a two-match touchline ban, but he still took part in a virtual press conference after the win. See what he had to say here.

The return to LaLiga action for Villarreal saw Sergio Asenjo break Villarreal’s clean sheets record. The goalkeeper is now the player with most clean sheets in Yellows’ history, overtaking Diego López. Read more here.

We haven’t got much time to breathe before our next match, which is tomorrow at 7:30pm CEST against RCD Mallorca. It will be exactly 100 days since our last game at the Estadio de la Cerámica. It will feel very different with no fans there, but the stadium is full of cardboard versions of fans and it looks great. You can see what it looks like on our Twitter feed @Eng_Villarreal, which has videos and photos of the stadium. There’s even a guest appearance from a cardboard Cédric Bakambu, with the former Villarreal striker not wanting to miss out!

See what manager Javi Calleja had to say in his pre-match virtual press conference here.

We’ve also got another date for your diaries, with the derby against Valencia being confirmed for Sunday 28th June. More details here.

And finally, if you want to get your hand on some Villarreal clothes, there is an end-of-the-season sale on in the online store, with this season’s merchandise at 70% off. More information here.
