It was a big weekend for Villarreal in Miami. The Yellows’ week in Miami culminated with the Villarreal Yellow Cup Miami by LaLiga tournament, which was won by the Villarreal U12s (Alevín A), who had flown over from Spain. They beat New York Red Bulls 2–1 in the final. That match also saw Manu Trigueros reach 300 games for Villarreal first team, a great achievement for someone who featured in the Yellows Academy before making the step up to the first team. Read more here.
There were of course more matches for Villarreal sides this weekend. Villarreal B (Villarreal U23s) were unlucky to draw 0–0 at La Nucía in a match affected by heavy wind. Read the match report here. The men’s first team won’t be in action this weekend, due to the international break. There are a total of seven players from the Yellows representing their countries. They are Raúl Albiol, Santi Cazorla, Pau Torres and Gerard Moreno (Spain), Karl Toko Ekambi and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon) and Samuel Chukwueze (Nigeria). Check out their schedule here.
