PHOTO OF THE DAY: Carlos Bacca celebrates scoring against Maccabi Tel Aviv

Villarreal kept up their 100% record in the Europa League so far, beating Maccabi Tel Aviv 4–0 to make it three wins from three in the European competition. The Yellows’ goals came from Carlos Bacca (2); Álex Baena, who scored his first goal for the men’s first team; and Fer Niño, who scored on his Europa League debut. Read the match report here.

The match kicked off an hour and ten minutes late due to extremely heavy rainfall at the Estadio de la Cerámica. You can see a video of the rain here, and a photo of how the great drainage system and hard work from the maintenance staff meant that the game could go ahead here.

Read post-match reaction from manager Unai Emery here and Bacca here.

The busy schedule doesn’t stop, and next up is a LaLiga game against Getafe (2pm CET, Sunday).

Check out the full schedule for all club sides in Spain here.

With the international break coming up after the next round of LaLiga fixtures, both Gerard Moreno and Pau Torres have been called up by Spain (more here), while Take Kubo has been called up by Japan (more here).

And finally, we have a feature on Miguel Álvarez, the Villarreal B (Villarreal U23s) manager, who is into his fourth season at the club here.
