Villarreal continued their good run, and are now up to seventh in the table after beating Osasuna 3–1, thanks to a debut goal from Paco Alcácer, Rubén Peña’s first goal for the club, and Santi Cazorla’s 11th of the season. The Yellows also lined up with an impressive ten Spanish players in the starting XI, with five of them coming from the academy. You can read the match report here and watch the highlights here. As always, that wasn’t the only game involving a Villarreal side this weekend. Villarreal U23s (Villarreal B) picked up an impressive 4–1 win over UE Llagostera thanks to goals from Edu Espiau (2), Rafa Mújica and Diego Collado. Speaking of the Mini Submarine, there have been a number of changes both incoming and outgoing in terms of the squad, with Mújica and Javi Fernández strengthening the ranks. Check out the full winter transfer window ongoings here.

Two Yellows Academy players have also been crowned Copa del Atlántico champions with Spain U18s. Yeremi Pino and Aitor Gelardo played in the final game of the tournament, which saw the Spanish side beat Mexico 6–0, with Pino scoring the first goal of the game. Read more about that here.
